Edward being a rebellious teenager. That is a stretch from the Edward we know. But he is a vampire and vampires normally drink human blood. Experimentation is a teenager's greatest source of fun. And at least he decided to only experiment with people who were more evil than he was.

Wow, this is deep, yet it's well-written.
I love the woman's thoughts when Edward tells her to run. " He’s letting me go? He came for them? Her tears flowed anew. She looked at me more closely. He’s so pale he glows, even in this darkness. He’s an angel. God answered my prayer. He sent an angel to protect me. “Thank you. Thank you, sir,” she breathed before she stumbled away." I like it a lot.
