This piece was a one-shot for Segolily's Twilight Challenge on FFN: Odd Fathers.
Challenge: Write a oneshot of a conversation between Charlie and Carlisle. Charlie is suspicious, Carlisle tries to erase his suspicions. Setting: Eclipse before battle with newborns
The object was to be humorous, but this turned out a bit angst-y. I had a hard time being funny when I thought about my daughter being Bella. I also feel strongly that parents know much more than their children think they do. Since Eclipse is told in Bella's POV we only get her perception of events and people. Charlie's comment about Bella saying goodbye before she leaves (in Eclipse) led me to believe that he understands more than she thinks. Hence the birth of this story.
